• Write for Food

rachel tayse writerI love to read about small businesses doing exciting things. Unfortunately many are so busy with their own pursuits that they do not adequately express themselves in print and online.

To bridge the gap, I help individuals and businesses share their stories with freelance writing, editing and social media services. Clients find new customers and are able to continue to focus on what they do best.

    Services

I provide copywriting and editing services for anything from a newsletter article to an email campaign to a full website. I listen to needs and follow up with adequate research to deliver quality work, on time.

To help brands build a solid online presence, I create and maintain social networking sites. Many businesses prefer that I train employees in social media best practices. These conferences can be arranged virtually, via phone or in person.

    Experience

My writing career began in college when I published science lessons for elementary school students. That experience served me well as I transitioned to writing and teaching curricula for a small private school and later a Unitarian Universalist church. For the three years that Alex and I operated an online retail store, I wrote all web and marketing copy and handled communication with customers. I currently write for the Hounds in the Kitchen blog and freelance for online and print publications.

In two years, I developed the Hounds in the Kitchen brand to include a heavily trafficked blog, Facebook page 1100 fans strong, over 3000 Twitter followers, and several hundred newsletter subscribers. Individuals and non-profit organizations seek my advice on establishing and maintaining their presence.

    Cost

I price each project individually to reflect the complexity of the work. I work for reasonable rates and prefer to charge inclusively so that neither the client nor myself feels ‘on the clock’.

As an urban homesteader, I understand that cash isn’t always king. I like to barter. I will work for food, seedlings, child/dog care, and more. Make an offer.

    In Client’s Words

“Rachel helped me understand the value of social media and trained my volunteer staff. In addition to her excellent in-person workshop, Rachel’s written notes were invaluable to myself and volunteers as we implemented our project.” Mary Lynn Thalheimer, Ohio 4-H International
