WOOD COUNTERTOPS!!!
by Rachel Tayse • November 12, 2009 • Kitchen Renovation • 8 Comments

Today, Alex installed two pieces of wooden countertops. He made them with cherry plywood and aged solid cherry edges. Finished with six layers of polyurethane, they are smooth and cleanable!!

Alex even let Lil help apply the glue. Yay Alex!!

We have lived without proper countertops for 11 months!! I am just a little bit excited.

don't mind the water handprint in the middle
(Now, get working on the other two pieces.)
They look great!

Beautiful! Nice job guys. I love my butcher block countertop.
They look beautiful, Rachel! I don’t suppose Alex would want to post some sort of how-to, would he?

Well, I will be posting a how-to shortly. Basically, though, they were quite simple. The flat surface is cherry veneer plywood. The edges are aged cherry I had in the garage. The edges are attached with biscuit joints. The finish is polyurethane.
I’ll put the how-to up with more detail in the next few days.

my dentist installed a veneer on my front tooth and it looks better than ever”.:
veneers maybe necessary if you have very crooked teeth.`;
